
The Alsace Film Commission is a department of the Alsace Cultural Agency
It was set up in 1998 with the support of Alsace Regional Council and
the CNC (National Centre for Cinematography).
The Strasbourg and Urban Community Film Commission was set up by the Urban Community of Strasbourg (CUS) in 1997.
Their aim is offer
free services to professionals
wishing to make films in the Alsace region and in the CUS, by
highlighting local resources, both in terms of sites and settings and
artistic and technical skills. Through their work providing advice,
administrative and logistical support, contacts and assistance, they
contribute to making Alsace and the Strasbourg conurbation an area
conducive to the shooting of films.
Their main missions are as follows:- Constitution of files of actors, extras, technicians and service providers.
- Pre-scouting of sites and settings.
- Logistical support in
the preparation of film shoot (provision of lists of professionals,
including those of the Culture and Showbusiness section of the ANPE
(national employment agency), access to casting rooms, provision of
practical information on the Alsace region and the CUS area,
establishing of contacts with service providers and the regional media).
- Issuing of permits to film in public places for the CUS and establishing contacts with resources people for the Alsace region.
- Information on funding for cinema and audiovisual productions available at local or regional level.
- Following the career of the films shot in Alsace and participation in the organisation of previews, in cooperation with producers, distributors and cinema operators.
To
do this, the two Film Commissions use a computer database (natural and
built settings, professional directory, technical skills and financial
services) and a collection of documents (publications, newspapers,
magazines, guidebooks) which is regularly updated.
The two Film Commissions are also members of the
Film France network which works to promote France and its regions as film locations both nationally and internationally.
